Even though Android 4.1 Jelly Bean was announced a few months ago and released shortly after that, the team over at Google is getting closer to debuting Android 4.2 Key Lime Pie on several new devices for the fall season.
As we go further and further down the rabbit hole, we start to hear more and more information. While there was speculation that Motorola may be getting a Nexus device, it's starting to sound like it could totally be a possibility. The guys over at Android Police uncovered some very interesting data from their server traffic logs. Apparently, two devices, both a phone and a tablet, appeared in the logs and not only are running Android 4.2, but could very well be Motorola Nexus devices.
Among what was initially spotted was the Nexus 7 as well as several Galaxy Nexus phones that had the "J" build number associated with them. Each version of Android has a relevant build number to it. However, being that these versions running Key Lime Pie have a "J" attached to them, that shows that Android 4.2 is just an incremental update.
That's that, but another phone has popped up that goes by the name of Occam. It's clearly a mobile phone. There was a good theory that the name could in fact be a reference to Occam's Razor which would lead to it potentially being a new Motorola RAZR device and not just any new RAZR device. We're fairly confident that it'd be a Nexus if that's the case.
Lastly, a tablet was spotted by the name of "Manta". It's running 4.2 Key Lime Pie of course and what makes the name interesting is when you look back at the Motorola Xoom. The Xoom had two codenames which were Stingray and Wingray. Starting to see the connection there? We have our fingers crossed here at Android Headlines that it's the Nexus 10 we've heard about.
Even though there's no info besides this on these two devices, it's definitely a sign that a new phone and tablet are to come. Even though Motorola Mobility's CEO stated that they'd definitely be considered for a Nexus phone, doesn't mean that they haven't in fact already created one. Also, Motorola seems due for a new tablet and even if it's not the Nexus 10, with Google putting their time and effort into the company, it could be pretty exciting.
